Ridiculously Tasty Gravy! (Free From: Dairy, Wheat, Egg. Vegetarian & Vegan)

This gravy is truly delicious. The secret ingredient is definitely the cloves!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Stock cubes (Kallo Vegetable Stock Cubes)
  • 1 Carrot chopped in chunks
  • 1 Parsnip
  • 1 Celery
  • Add any root veg that you have to be honest, if not the above work perfectly
  • Small handful of cloves ( Roughly a dozen)
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Dash of red wine and / or port (Make sure to check the back to ensure it is dairy free!)
  • 1 Pint of Water (Add more if required during the reducing phase)
  • White pepper
  • 1 Tsp Yeast Extract (If there is one you can tolerate, like Tesco brand?)
  • Suitable Gravy Granules (Free & Easy’s Dairy & Gluten Free Gravy, or Bisto Best)

   
Method:

  1. Boil onion first in stock cube (So that you can remove the onion for your Stuffing. Recipe for stuffing below)
  2. Add all other ingredients except for your gravy granules
  3. With the lid on, simmer for at least an hour (or until it reduces)
  4. Drain into another pan using a colander
  5. Blend the vegetables until a puree
  6. Mix in the puree with your gravy liquid
  7. Depending on how much you would like to make, mix your gravy granules with boiling water (as per directions)
  8. Mix your gravy granules with your homemade stock
  9. Reheat it in the microwave.

    Tip: Pour boiling water into your gravy boat/jug to heat up the glass, just before serving, empty the water and fill up your gravy boat with your delicious gravy!
